Made in Italy with international success: Brunello Cucinelli
Brunello Cucinelli SpA is an Italian company, but also a world-renowned high fashion house, specialized in the branch of fine cashmere workmanship. The founder, born in 1953 in Castel Rigore in the province of Perugia, abandoned his university studies and transformed his home garage into a small laboratory where he began to produce colorful cashmere sweaters, while in those years they were only in natural color, which would be very successful.
In 1978 he founded the small company that would develop over the course of a few years, following numerous contacts and exports abroad . Ten years later the company moved into the fourteenth-century castle of Solomeo , purchased and restored by the entrepreneur, and in the nineties Brunello Cucinelli SpA became a shareholder of the Gunex brand company, opening shortly thereafter various stores under its own brand in Italy and abroad exclusively under the Brunello Cucinelli brand.
Brunello Cucinelli has now become the Italian king of cashmere in the world with over 70% of production exclusively made in Italy. The core business of the company is represented by cashmere, but the fashion house produces complete collections of clothing and accessories , representing one of the most established brands in the luxury pret-à-porter sector and sport-chic fashion worldwide.
The entrepreneur and designer has received an honorary degree in philosophy and ethics in human relations from the University of Perugia, as well as numerous awards for his innovative approach to doing business , including Pitti Immagine Uomo, Italian Entrepreneur of the Year and the Knighthood of the Italian Republic . He is president of the Teatro Stabile dell'Umbria, a director of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia, and a member of the board of directors of Pitti Immagine and Altagamma. He has also established an important Foundation and the so-called Foro delle Arti , an innovative architectural complex that includes a theater, an amphitheater, a library and the Accademia Neoumanistica, a school of thought designed on the model of the medieval brotherhoods where the techniques of "handmade" are learned and various courses are held.
